Baking a cake takes patience, love, and an understanding of fractions, but the secret to building a really great cake is spanking. Conventionally, once a cake has been tooth-picked to perfection, it is cooled, frosted, and enjoyed by all. However, I like to give my cakes a little more attention.
A proper spanking is only initiated when the cake has begun to cool; do not attempt to spank a hot cake. Until you get the hang of it, be gentle with your cakes as they can be quite delicate. Most cake-spanking is frowned upon by mothers, wives, sisters, aunts and daughters, so time your strikes well and beware the sting of the wrathful spoon. Good luck.
